WIT was founded in 2018 by Shelly Ritenour. It stands for "Women in Transition".
Shelly was a single mom at the age of 30, taking on the path as a single mom to her daughter Emma, when she was at the age of 5. Living in Hawaii, away from family was an added stressor to receiving the comfort needed. A hard working self disciplined entrepreneur, Shelly would keep going, tending to responsibilities with goals to being financially stable for her family. Then life became a sudden impactful challenge adding more stress in the home due to a recession. Luckily, Shelly carried a well profitable business providing stable income for her family and her crew. Though, everything became on her to handle with little support as well the increase stress in the personal relationship living in was affecting her well being, mentally, physically, spiritually. Eventually, losing interest in her self esteem as well motivation, being completely exhausted. Life was already feeling as if living as a single mom in the earlier years, she knew it was time to move on.
Shelly has encountered her own challenging and ultimately rewarding life situations on how to overcome and keep strong as a single mother. It was difficult with the little strength to believe in herself she can do it on her own. The support she was given by others from friends and family when needed, showed that when we all come together helping one another strengthens the individual with the resources and care given. While attending college, taking classes in yoga, became a deep healing connection in her daily rituals. It was then discovered, yoga was to become her added educational goal to eventually teach others.
After years have passed, she thought of those transitioning too, in difficult situations are more hopeful when given the guidance and support in s direction of holistic wellness. That is why she has passion for and is a firm supporter of her founding
Non Profit Organization WIT: Women In Transition as a stand for Women Empowering Women.
Therefore, only to move forward to provide a more wholesome life for her and daughter Emma.
When life challenges and expectations become over bearing, sometimes can create vulnerability and helplessness, feeling alone in raising a child/children, and adding fear of ones self security as well capabilities. This can lead into an unstable situation due to financial distress and feel their only hope is return back into that unhealthy toxic relationship/marital situation, or finding themselves in another as a repeated cycle due to low self worth.
WIT steps in to provide needed supplies and tools in a wellness and holistic strategic approach for women in transition who cannot mindfully, physically, spiritually connect on their own.
In addition, WIT offers support groups, workshops, retreats childcare assistance, healing guidance, food/meals, and help in finding shelter if needed with the support of other partnered organizations.
